We have always specialised in the design, build and implementation of leadership development programmes. Over the last 25 years we have established a solid reputation for high quality training in numerous diverse industries. We create a unique simple learning process that provides instant understanding, backed up by evaluation and context.
We created and delivered the highly innovative ‘The Times Leadership Challenge’ which involved over 300 teams and thousands of participants from key blue-chip companies, across a variety of industry sectors. Although we began this in 2005 and ESG was 15 years away from being core to many organisations we began to introduce the concept into this programme, focusing on authentic leadership that highlighted environment, community and inclusivity and good governance. Participants were given intensive high-performance teamwork and leadership training and were then required to put what they had learned into practice in real communities in Africa. So as well as developing their own leadership capabilities they were also able to give something back to a number of underprivileged communities in Africa. As a company we were proud to support community development and put over £500,000 into these projects.
The Leadership Company also organised and ran a Leadership Challenge for aspiring young professionals that involved the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales (ICAEW). Over a two-year period, 120 businesses took part. This working partnership, involving in excess of 800 participants raised £50,000 for education, conservation and community empowerment in South Africa.
Several companies also commissioned bespoke leadership programmes to meet the needs of high potential groups. Along with fast track leadership learning, these programmes also raised and invested anamazing £500,000 to improve the lives of others – a critical element in the sustainability of the millennium development goals (MDG) which later became the United Nations Sustainability Goals. Such investment in training leaves a sustainable legacy on communities and affords them with a much-needed opportunity to realise their hopes and aspirations, so they may achieve their full potential. Many of the alumni of these programmes have progressed into senior leadership positions across the globe. They still cite how the powerful learning and experiences helped strengthen their leadership capability and has been a critical element of their current success.
Today our key focus still centres around assisting companies with the development of their future leaders. We provide them with the necessary leadership skills and self-confidence to embrace change, respond inclusively and dynamically whilst navigating their way successfully through the immense pressures and demands the business environment presents. Our current flagship programme offers leadership development to some 3000 participants from across the UK and Europe each year and seamlessly merge the ESG considerations into our leadership learning.
With the advent of COVID-19 and the advancement of digital technology, working practices have had to adapt quickly. The necessity to work in a more flexible, hybrid style whilst still meeting the needs of the business and workforce, have created new challenges.
