A typical programme consists of four key elements all of which can be uniquely designed and dovetailed to the particular needs of the organisation and participants.
Our learning and development methods have been universally acclaimed by companies that have used our approach to training, from Graduate Management to Global Top Talent schemes. Our methodology is innovative in design, challenging, yet easily understood.
It starts with an initial short and interactive session. This session allows participants to better understand their own company leadership framework and competencies and how they can be integrated with The Leadership Company methodology. It highlights understanding of an individual’s own leadership skills and helps create a personal flexible approach to learning.
Participants work in small groups and are taken through a series of tasks. These involve a unique mix of time pressured practical and mental project planning activities. Tasks reflect the real work environment enabling participants to experience making mistakes and adapting, to gain accelerated learning in a safe but realistic environment. Most importantly, each task is followed by an intense and constructive debrief using our unique ‘Just 5 words’ process. The focus of our debriefs being how to analyse the team and leadership dynamics from that task. Along with the importance of receiving feedback constructively and how to improve performance going forward.
This is the first stage to understanding performance dynamics and leadership approaches within a team and what value they can bring to that process. Moving to a ‘Change’ agenda is where the teams begin to understand how a high performance team meets the challenges in a changing environment.
This element is designed to stretch participants and highlight their development and understanding of leadership and delivery.
More complex, time pressured tasks mirror closely the transition from delivering results in small workplace teams to leading projects or change across multi-departmental teams and organisations. The pace and complexity of these tasks will be varied depending on the level of the participants and organisational requirements.
Teams will experience the impact of adapting and challenges faced when leading through change.
Each participant will review their personal feedback from the start of the programme and their progression through each session. Action plans for further development form the basis of an individual’s personal action plan for ongoing development. Including identification of strengths and areas where further development is required to better maximise leadership effectiveness. A company’s values or leadership framework are usually also weaved into this session to ensure a holistic view and understanding of capabilities and where each participant sits.
The, most importantly, the focus is on how personal development can be most effectively transferred back to the workplace. Each participant will identify key areas that they personally will do differently when they return to work. Feedback can be integrated into an organisations existing personal development plans, used as personal standalone targets or linked to future Leadership Company programmes.
